Location
Nestled in the van der stel pas between Franschhoek and Hermanus,
guests may relish the tranquil privacy of the reserve and
also delight in the charming hamlets nearby, some of South
Africa's unique treasures. 25 minutes to the wine country
and 25 minutes to the sea, Porcupine Hills is the perfect
entree onto the Garden route, or an ideal respite from the
city. Follow the N2 east from the airport over Sir Lowry's
Pass. Take the Botriver turn-off, then the Van der Stel Pass
for 19km until reaching Diepklowe Nature Reserve.
DIRECTIONS TO PORCUPINE HILLS
From N2 Cape Town via Grabouw
- Follow the N2 east from the airport over Sir Lowery¹s
Pass.
- At The Orchard Farmstall, take the Grabouw turnoff.
- Travel through Grabouw, over the river, and take the
R321, Villiersdorp/Franschhoek turn-off to your left.
- Travel for 22.5 km and look out for a little sign on the
left saying Botriver.
- Turn right and travel for 10km, the road is first a tar road and becomes a dirt road after a few km. Diepklowe
Nature Reserve & Porcupine Hills Guest Farm will be
on the left.
From N2 Garden Route via Botriver
- Follow the N2 west past Caledon.
- Take the Botriver turn-off and go through the tiny town.
- Immediately over the railroad tracks, take the Villiersdorp
via Van Der Stel Pass turn-off to your right.
- Follow the Van Der Stel Pass for 16km on a dirt road,
heading towards Villiersdorp.
- Diepklowe Nature Reserve - Porcupine Hills Guest Farm
will be on the right.
From R45 Franschhoek
- Follow the R45 over the mountains towards Villiersdorp.
- At the T-junction, turn right towards Grabouw over the
bridge.
- Immediately after the bridge, take a left towards Draaiberg
and the N2.
- Continue on the sand road for 2 km and make a right towards
Botriver via the Van der Stel Pass.
- Make a left at the T-junction and continue for 6 km.
- Diepklowe Nature Reserve& Porcupine Hills Guest Farm
will be on the left.
From Franschhoek Village
- From Franschoek, travel over the Franschoek Pass towards
Teewaterskloof dam and Villiersdorp.
- The pass is 25km. The pass will end at a T-Junction.
- Turn Right at the T-Junction and travel towards Grabouw.
- Travel for 6km.
- There will be a sign to BOTRIVER on the right hand side
of the road.
- Turn left at this sign.
- Travel for 11.6km and you will come around a corner and
see our mountain.
- Continue a few hundred meters and on the left hand side
of the road as you come down a steep section of road, will
be a sign reading DIEPKLOWE NATURE RESERVE.
- Turn sharply left into the reserve.
