Yurts have become stylish weekend and holiday accommodation in the UK, Europe and many other parts of the world. Now, in collaboration with Southern Yurts, you can explore this unique experience to the Overberg!
Nestled on a sloping hill that overlooks the raw beauty of the nature conservancy, the North-facing Yurt is positioned for the perfect sunrise and sunset. Walk out onto a landing that has been built out of a 90-year old stone wall, and into your open-plan, private kitchen with fireplace. A couple of meters away you can enjoy the comfort of a hot shower in our beautiful and enclosed bathroom unit. Nothing about this accommodation is ordinary - if you're looking for an original and comfortable stay in breathtaking nature, the Yurt will provide it all.
This accommodation is equipped with a small fridge, double gas cooking plate, kettle, toaster, and all the necessary cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery you will need during your stay. We supply firewood, firelighters, tea, coffee, sugar, organic olive oil (from the farm), salt and pepper. The bathroom is stocked with soaps and lotions, and extra towels are provided for the hot tub.
The Yurt is located next to our Secret Forest, a gentle riverine area scattered with a few fruit trees that are over a hundred years old. Feel free to have a swing under the ancient Oak, or a stroll through our budding fruit orchard adjacent to the river. Pick a fruit from a historic fig tree over 5 m tall, or a pomegranate for your morning fruit salad.
When you want to be near the water, enjoy a light 5 minute walk to the dam: swim it's length, or enjoy a sundowner at the dam centre on a moving raft. On summer days, the cool shade from the weeping willows can be life-saving. For guests that would like to explore more of the Conservancy, there are a number of hikes around the farm that give you spectacular views and expose an incredible array of flora unique to the region.
