I LOVED being there - and especially the trails. Out there hiking yesterday morning starting before light and going further and for much longer than I expected was such a joy. Was dreaming of that again this morning and wishing that I could have stayed a lot, lot longer to be out there on the land.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dassie Cottage. We loved the tranquility and beautiful natural scenery. This nature reserve is conserving a wonderful slice of renosterveld, a highly endangered vegetation type, so it is a rare pleasure to be able to explore this type of landscape.”

Mountain hideaway
Amazing spot to get away from it all! Perfect setting and comfie beds / loved the en suite with each bedroom! Our dogs loved exploring and had so much fun being able to walk free and enjoy dam swims! We will definitely be back.

Break away from the city
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Porcupine Hills. The chalets are private, completely shaded by beautiful trees and the dunk pool was a proper treat in the heat of summer! Perfect place to get away from the city. No cell phone signal so you can properly switch off. The accommodation has all the basics for cooking and the bed was super comfy. We will definitely be back soon!

Reconnect with Nature!
Definitely recommend visiting Porcupine Hills! Had a beautiful 4 day stay there! Walks to the dam and watching the sunset from the tops of the hills were highlights! Can't wait to come back again next time!

A truly peaceful family getaway. Cannot get over the abundance of bird calls, just delightful. Loved watching the black eagle parents teaching the juveniles how to fly and feed. Gorgeous Farmhouse, we will be back.

Just want to say a BIG.....THANK YOU!!! We absolutely loved staying at Klipboks.....it is just perfect! None of us wanted to leave! We loved exploring the area; the hike, the dam, the forest, the wine farms....we couldn’t have booked a better place! Our accommodation had everything we needed and we loved the rustic element to it!

We absolutely LOVED our time at Porcupine Hills.

Most significantly it does not have WiFi coverage and our 16-year-old read a book cover to cover for the first time in years! I am most happy to contribute to a review but am not much of a Facebook fan.

My only fear in writing a fantastic review (which it clearly deserves) is Porcupine Hills might grow more popular and lose some of its charm in peaceful isolation!! 😃

We all feel blessed for finding such a haven so relatively close to our home.

My husband, 10-year-old son and I spent two wonderful days and nights at Porcupine Hills. We stayed in Caracal Cottage, which was perfect for the three of us – we could also take along our golden retriever, who had a great time too. The cottage is spacious and very well appointed, with comfortable bed linen, plush towels and luxury extras such as bathroom toiletries. The kitchen incorporates a wood fireplace, the lounge opens out onto a garden from both sides and we also used the patio and braai. On the Sunday morning after a hot cycle and swim, we enjoyed cooling off in the plunge pool. Our son loved the raft on the dam, which was a short walk from our cottage. On our second morning, we hiked up the mountain for a couple of hours and savoured the surrounding scenery. Porcupine Hills is a beautiful, peaceful farm on a private nature reserve and I would highly recommend it.

Our family of 7 stayed at the rustic Klipboks over the January holidays. Klipboks is beautifully situated in the mountains, with amazing trees around it and 2 lovely splash pools to cool down in during the hot summer days and nights. We loved the outdoor braai area, perfect for a socialising whilst braaing and morning breakfasts. Boys loved the dam where they could fish very successfully and the 2 beautiful willow trees situated perfectly for a lovely area to read a book and watch them fish. We will definitely be back again.

Porcupine Hills is a place of tranquility and best way to bond with your family. Perfectly situated and unplugged from from the rest of the world... EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED!!! My wife, baby daughter (5x weeks old) and I stayed at Porcupine Hills on Thursday 11 January 2018, until Sunday 14 January 2018 at the River Cottages (Rustic Collection). We were blown away by the looks and location of this absolute gem. Porcupine Hills will definitely see us again!!!
